Oleg Pankratov: Adoption of EEU Customs Code not to affect prices

"The adoption of the EEU Customs Code won't affect prices," Deputy Prime Minister of the KR Oleg Pankratov said to journalists today.

"EEU - economic organization, established on the basis of the fact that we have a common customs space. Accordingly, we should have a single code, single rules that define all customs procedures. The document is big, we have been working on it for more than a year. There were a lot of differences," he said.

"But in the end, all countries went to some concessions, consensus has been found. We hope that all countries have completed the process of internal reconciliation and approval, and the document will be signed today," Oleg Pankratov said.

"It has no peculiarities for Kyrgyzstan. The largest part, which had many controversies, related to the work of free economic zones. In many ways, it was difficult to negotiate. But in the end, all these matters have been resolved," Oleg Pankratov said.

Answering the question whether prices will rise after the adoption of the Customs Code, he said: "The Code doesn't regulate tariffs. Only customs procedures. That is the code has no impact on the prices."

St. Petersburg (Russia) hosts a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council today. The key event of the summit will be the planned signing of the agreement on the Customs Code of the EEU.
