Bishkek to host Suimenkul Chokmorov’s Memorial Week

From November 23 till December 1, Bishkek will host week-long events in the memory of the artist, actor, People's Artist of the USSR Suimenkul Chokmorov. Producer, social activist Assol Moldokmatova told today at a press conference.

According to her, the week will start with an exhibition of paintings by Suimenkul Chokmorov at the National Museum of Fine Arts, and on November 24 the Russian Drama Theater named after Chingiz Aitmatov will host performance "The Last Call" (actor Bolot Tentimishev will play the role of Suimenkul Chokmorov, director is Venera Kydyralieva), which is based on the biography of the great actor and artist.

"The Last Call "- is not only a tribute to the memory of the great artist and the actor, but also to the generation of cinema people who have created a foundation on which we still exist," Venera Kydyralieva said. 

Suimenkul Chokmorov first appeared in the film directed by Bolot Shamshiev "Shot on the Karash Pass" (1967). He was five times awarded the Best Actor title at the Soviet film festivals.

According to the brother of the great artist, monument to Suimenkul Chokmorov was unveiled in Osh. Erecting of one more monument to the actor in Bishkek is discussed at the time.
