At least 38 films to compete for Ak Ilbirs 2016 National Film Award

At least 38 films will compete for Ak Ilbirs 2016 National Film Award. The secretary of the Cinematographers' Union of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Tolobekov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, these are 10 full-length fiction films, 23 short fiction films and 5 documentaries.

Films of any genre produced in 2015 in Kyrgyzstan can compete for the award. The ceremony of awarding the winners will be held in Bishkek on May 15.

"The films are estimated in 16 nominations: best film, screenplay, director, cameraman, artist, editor, composer, sound producer, male and female roles, animation and documentaries. One of the prizes will be awarded for outstanding contribution to the development of national cinema. In 2015 the organizers have added to the contest two nominations: "Best Film of Central Asia" and "For Contribution to World Cinema," the organizing committee noted. 

National Film Award Ak Ilbirs was established in 2012 by a group of local filmmakers and it became the first award for the best achievements in the field of cinematography in Kyrgyzstan.
