Kyrgyzstan remains at same position in Corruption Perceptions Index

Kyrgyzstan remained at the level of 2015 in the Corruption Perceptions Index , ranking 136, the international organization Transparency International reported.++

The index covers 176 countries and territories. It measures the perceived level of public sector corruption in a given country and is a composite index based on the survey data. The number of points obtained indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale from 0 to 100 points, where 0 means highly corrupt level in the public sector, and 100 - very clean.

In the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2016, Kyrgyzstan, as well as in the last year, scored 28 points and took 136th place.

Despite the fact that in 2015 the KR took 123rd place, the country hasn't worsened its results and hasn't improved its position, as the main indicator is not a place, but scored points.

This year, 69 percent of 176 countries scored less than 50 points in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2016.

Denmark and New Zealand took the first places in the ranking, having scored 90 points, South Sudan and Somalia close the ranking, gaining 11 and 10 points.

Georgia has the best performance among CIS countries - 57 points, the worst - Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan with 22 and 21 points taking 154th and 156th places.

Belarus showed the most noticeable changes for the better, having scored additional 8.5 points.
