Infrastructure of military base in Balykchy upgraded ahead of SCO Peace Mission exercises

Infrastructure of military base №20636 in Balykchy was upgraded ahead of SCO Peace Mission exercises. The head of Department of barrack services under the State Committee for Defense Sydykbek Kurmanbekov told.

According to him, five barracks, each with a capacity of 200 people, a barrack for officers (for 80 people) and a medical center were built in preparation for the exercises on the territory of the military town. All networks (water, sewer, electricity) have been rebuilt for providing vital activity. The size of the parade ground was increased, tribune was built. Heating system of the barracks will be reequipped. There will be sports grounds for gymnastics, volleyball and basketball. Tents for catering of the personnel will be organized. The work on landscaping, repair of roads, the gym and the club is to be completed.

In addition, an overhaul of 50-apartment building on the balance of the unit has been carried out.

 Recall, joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercises of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Peace Mission-2016 will be held on September 6-12 on the basis of the military unit with the assistance of the military contingents of China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan. It is expected that the maneuvers will be the most ambitious in the history of the Kyrgyz Republic. They will be participated by several types of troops, including artillery and aviation. The main goal is to work out cooperation on combating terrorism, separatism and extremism.
