Dmitry Pankin: Introduction of single EEU currency – long process

"Introduction of a single EEU currency is a long process," Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Dmitry Pankin said today at the 10th International Conference "Eurasian Economic Integration."

According to him, the European Union has come to the single currency, after more than 20 years of integration processes. "Several times it was noted that before the introduction of the single currency the coordination of financial policy is required. Without it is extremely wrong to introduce the single currency. This will lead to problems," he said.

"But all the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have inflation targeting, floating exchange rates, the coordination of budgetary approaches. In the future, this can lead to the creation of a single currency. But not immediately. It is the crown of the Eurasian integration process, not its beginning," Dmitry Pankin said.
