Elections of Bishkek mayor: there is alternative

There are two candidates for the post of Bishkek Mayor - Acting Mayor Albek Ibraimov and former Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Nurdin Abdyldaev.++

Ibraimov was nominated by a majority coalition of Bishkek city council. According to its leader Almaz Kenenbaev, having discussed the issue, the deputies reached common ground.

"We believe that during the work Albek Ibraimov proved himself as a good manager and a business manager," press office of Bishkek city council quotes Almaz Kenenbaev.

The opposition faction Onuguu-Progress nominated Nurdin Abdyldaev.

"There should be alternative. Abdyldaev - the former governor of Issyk-Kulka region, ex-deputy of the parliament, experienced man, worked in various industries, will be able to lead the city," faction leader Taalaibek Sariev said to 24.kg news agency.

Elections of Bishkek mayor scheduled for January 11.

The right to nominate candidates for the post of head of the city has the coalition majority and the minority of the city council, as well as the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. The government doesn't comment, whether Sooronbay Jeenbekov will use this right.

Bishkek TEC will complete the reception of documents for registration of candidates for mayor of the capital today, January 4, at 6.00 pm.
