50 new trolleybuses to arrive in Bishkek in first quarter of 2017

50 new trolleybuses will arrive in Bishkek in the first quarter of 2017, the mayor of Albek Ibraimov said today at a press conference.

According to him, today about 120 trolley buses are on the line. With the arrival of new transport, all the routes will be loaded.

"Currently, the city develops a large complex program to provide municipal transport. "Why complex? Because there is rehabilitation and construction of roads in Bishkek. In parallel, the division of separate lanes for public transport. It is necessary to increase the speed of passage of public transport," the mayor said. 

He stressed the need of 400 buses. "It will require a lot of money. There are different options. One can take vehicles on lease, or take a loan from EBRD and Kyrgyz-Russian fund. But this implies that the project will become more expensive. Therefore, we decided on the form of purchasing public transport with deferred payment," Albek Ibraimov added.
